| Description | Your Code of Ethics requires you to hold the public health, safety and welfare paramount. In the course of your profession, however, you may be faced with irreconcilable dilemmas that call in to question your moral values, conduct and character. What actions would you take if faced with a conflict of interest? What would you do if you were asked to sign off on an incomplete or inadequate code inspection, or received a request to make changes on an analysis done by another engineer? Do you know how you would handle these issues if faced with them? In this 1-hour interactive online course, standards of ethical conduct are examined in a variety of situations amply illustrated with case studies and discussion from the NSPE Board of Review. The engineer will focus on ethical issues in contemporary professional practice by looking at a sampling of cases. Using the facts of the case and the discussion provided by the NSPE Board of Review, the engineer will have an opportunity to evaluate real world circumstances faced by others in the profession. The goal of this course is to encourage you to examine the Code of Ethics in detail so that you develop a working knowledge of professional ethics as delineated in the Code and an understanding of the complexities of professional decision-making. |
