Ethical Decision Making for Engineers #1

In this 2-hour interactive online course, standards of ethical conduct are examined in a variety of situations amply illustrated with case studies. The engineer will focus on ethical issues in contemporary professional practice by looking at a sampling of “real” ethical issues that other professionals sometimes face. Using the NSPE Code of Ethics for Engineers as a guide and applying the ethical decision making model, the engineer will examine some of the everyday complex issues of professional practice, such as whistle-blowing, confidentiality and gifts.  

 


Ethical Decision Making for Engineers #2

In this 1-hour interactive online course, standards of ethical conduct are examined in a variety of situations amply illustrated with case studies and discussion from the NSPE Board of Review. The engineer will focus on ethical issues in contemporary professional practice by looking at a sampling of cases. Using the facts of the case and the discussion provided, the engineer will have an opportunity to evaluate real world circumstances faced by others in the profession.

This course looks at the following situations:

• Copyright - Duty to Report Violation of Copyright Agreement
• Conflict of Interest - Utility Audits for City
• Reference - Quid Pro Quo
• Associating with a Firm Not Authorized to Practice

In this 1-hour interactive online course, standards of ethical conduct are examined in a variety of situations amply illustrated with case studies and discussion from the NPSE Board of Review. The engineer will focus on ethical issues in contemporary professional practice by looking at a sampling of cases. Using the facts of the case and the discussion provided, the engineer will have an opportunity to evaluate real world circumstances faced by others in the profession.

This course looks at the following situations:

• Patents - Dispute Over Right to Specify
• Expert Witness Formerly for Utility Now Testifying for Consumer
• Incomplete Plans & Specifications - Engineer, Government, and Contractor Responsibilities
• Public Welfare - Bridge Structure

In this 1-hour interactive online course, standards of ethical conduct are examined in a variety of situations amply illustrated with case studies and discussion from the NSPE Board of Review.  The engineer will focus on ethical issues in contemporary professional practice by looking at a sampling of cases.  Using the facts of the case and the discussion provided by the NSPE Board of Review, the engineer will have an opportunity to evaluate real world circumstances faced by others in the profession.  The goal of this course is to encourage you to examine the Code of Ethics in detail so that you develop a working knowledge of professional ethics as delineated in the Code and an understanding of the complexities of professional decision-making.
