The primary purpose of adequate lighting in parking structures and parking lots is to permit the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians. Lighting enhancements in excess of minimum illumination levels may be necessary for guidance, space definition, and crime deterrence. This 1-hour online course discusses visibility issues, lighting industry standards, lighting system design issues, and related economic considerations so that designers, owners, and operators can make informed decisions about lighting for their parking facilities. The text of the course is taken from a recent publication by the National Parking Association.
The course includes a multiple-choice quiz to test your understanding of the material.
