Biography
William Crockett earned a BS, an MS, and a PhD in chemical engineering from West Virginia University. Upon graduation in 1962, he worked for Texaco Research in Beacon, NY until 1969 when he joined WVU in Charleston, WV as a chemical engineering professor at their graduate college, catering to engineers employed by the local chemical companies. Bill taught many different chemical engineering graduate courses over the years, becoming engineering dean in 1977. He retired in 2005 but continues to teach occasionally as an adjunct faculty member.
While with Texaco, Bill obtained three US patents. As a faculty member, he became a registered professional engineer, wrote a text book and many technical articles for journals and meetings. Bill served as a consultant for Union Carbide, FMC, Monsanto, and Olin. He is still an active member of AIChE.
Maureen Crockett graduated cum laude and earned a PBK key in 1959. Her BA and an MA in English literature are from WVU. In 1975, she started her professional career as a freelance writer doing articles for the Charleston Gazette. Over the years, she has written for many magazines and, in 2005, published a book. She has had a Charleston Gazette column reviewing WV restaurants for the last 20 years.
Together, they have taught writing for graduate college students, state government, hospitals and numerous companies.
