Biography
David Walls is the Executive Director of Sustainability Programs for the International Code Council (ICC). His responsibilities include assisting efforts to secure adoptions of the International Green Construction Code, assisting with developing and enhancing green-related products and services, and leading outreach efforts to industry organizations.
Mr. Walls has been on various committees including the development of the ICC G4 Guideline for Commissioning and the International Accreditation Service Technical Advisory Council that developed AC 476 Accreditation Criteria for Organizations Training and/or Certifying Individuals Involved in Commissioning.
Prior to joining ICC, Dave served as the Executive Director of the California Building Standards Commission which oversees the adoption and publication of the California Building Standards Codes. In this capacity he successfully directed the development and publication of CALGreen, the first mandatory statewide green building code in the U.S.
Dave has also served as a Commissioner on the California Seismic Safety Commission and as a Board Member of the California Hospital Building Safety Board. David is a California Licensed General Contractor and served as a code official in the building inspection divisions for two local jurisdictions in California. He also served as an adjunct professor in the construction management program at the University of California Davis.
