Are You In? Support National Safety Month with RedVector / Convergence Training

National Safety Month is observed annually in June and focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death in the workplace, on the road and in our communities.

In a quest to help keep employees safe, RedVector / Convergence Training is joining the National Safety Council (NSC) to offer important safety tips, tools and resources each week throughout the month.

Important Safety Training Tips and Resources Just for You: Week 1 – Hazard Recognition

One of the “root causes” of workplace incidents is the failure to identify or recognize hazards that are present, or that could have been anticipated. So first up, we’re talking about hazard recognition. A critical element of any effective safety and health program is a proactive, ongoing process to identify and assess such hazards. According to OSHA, that process should include the following action items:

– Action item 1: Collect existing information about workplace hazards

– Action item 2: Inspect the workplace for safety hazards

– Action item 3: Identify health hazards

– Action item 4: Conduct incident investigations

– Action item 5: Identify hazards associated with emergency and nonroutine situations

– Action item 6: Characterize the nature of identified hazards, identify interim control measures, and prioritize the hazards for control

Dive deeper into this subject with our Convergence Training colleague Jeff Dalto. In his recent blog post, Jeff expands on all things hazard identification / recognition to help ensure your employees can learn to identify hazards in the work area more quickly efficiently.
