Lessons From Safety 2015 (Dallas)

Resources

More than 4,000 safety devotees gathered June 7-10 in Dallas for Safety 2015, the annual conference and expo held by the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).

Over 200 sessions were presented by the best minds in the industry, including leading pioneers in occupational safety and health.

Bjørn Lomborg, a celebrated professor and statistician named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time Magazine energized participants with a safety-influenced speech on prioritizing the world’s greatest problems. The premise was that because we can’t solve every problem in the world, we must ask: Which ones should we fix first?

Other session topics included process safety management, safety communication skills, fire protection, combustible dust and lockout/tagout, as well as business-related safety issues including protecting employees and the bottom line and what CEOs and the C-Suite want from safety programs.

Leading online training provider RedVector was on hand during the show to share training insights on those topics — particularly making a business case for safety training — and to give away a very popular emergency escape tool, the car safety hammer, in a state that recently experienced serious flooding.hammer

In addition, the team demonstrated that sound SH&E programs are proven to:

– Reduce Fatalities, Injuries and Illnesses

– Reduce Costs (Workers’ Comp, Legal, Equipment)

– Improve Employee Morale, Productivity and Organizational Reputation

– Increase Compliance
