This 4-hour course is formatted in 3 lessons with the exam given at the end of each lesson. Each lesson must be passed with a score of 70% or higher before being allowed to proceed to the next lesson. The lessons are listed below:
Lesson 1: 2014 NEC Changes - Chapter 2: Wiring and Protection
The National Electrical Code® (NEC®) is the United States standard for the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment. Since 1911 the NFPA® has been making updates to the NEC Code document. The NEC is updated and published every 3 years. This is the second of several courses covering the changes in the 2014 edition of the National Electrical Code® (NEC®) created by the NFPA. Chapter 2 is primarily concerned with correctly sizing and protecting circuits. Every article in this chapter deals with different aspects of this purpose.
Lesson 2: Texas State Laws & Rules for Electricians
In today's business world, it is easy to become so wrapped up in your everyday work that you forget some of the basic rules and regulations that govern your profession. This interactive online course discusses Title 8, Occupations Code, Chapter 1305 of the Texas Statutes, and 16 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 73 of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. These two codes contain important information regarding the regulation, licensing, and conduct standards for Texas Electricians. By reviewing this information on a regular basis, you will stay abreast of changes and amendments to the Texas State Laws and Rules as they pertain to this profession.

- Breakdown the requirements of dwelling unit receptacle outlets to provide a safe environment for the public

- Identify the various professions and sub-professions regulated by the Texas laws and rules for electricians, and the responsibilities and limitations of each license.
- Describe licensing requirements and enforcement
- Discuss regulations of electricians by local governments
- Explain actions that may lead to license denial and disciplinary actions
- Discuss significant changes made to the 2015 edition of NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace®
- Discuss OSHA requirements and NFPA 70E® PPE electrical safety-related work practices, safety-related maintenance requirements, and administrative control
