This 3-hour interactive online course is an overview of the current science regarding the potential health impacts of 60 Hz Electromagnetic Fields. It reviews the relevant electric and magnetic properties involved in generating electric and magnetic fields. Also, the sources of EMF exposure are discussed as well as the methods to mitigate potential exposure to EMF. The methods of analyzing EMF are discussed including reviews of the significant EMF studies.

There is a test included at the end of each section of this course.

Upon completion of this course, you will have an understanding of the current science regarding the health impacts of 60 Hz electromagnetic fields (EMF). Specifically you will,

Understand the potential sources of electric and magnetic fields and the magnitudes of likely sources

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT: Lee Layton, P.E.

Mr. Layton holds a BS in electrical engineering from Auburn University and an MBA. He is a licensed professional engineer in Georgia and North Carolina. He has over 35 years experience in the electric utility industry. His area of expertise includes distribution design, planning, metering, system operations, and relaying.

Mr. Layton has taught numerous training courses for other utility professionals in the areas of metering, relaying, equipment application, and distribution line design and authored over 100 papers on utility operations.
