Site access is an important element in the proper planning and design of a parking facility. Safe and efficient entry into, exit from, and circulation within a parking facility contribute to the facility's successful operation. This
1-hour online course discusses how parking facilities impact traffic within and around the facilities and provides some guidance into the issue of site access. The text of the course is taken from a recent publication by the National Parking Association. This course includes a multiple-choice test at the end.
At the conclusion of the course, you will understand:
- The steps necessary in planning and design of site access for a parking facility.
- The types of data that need to be collected to complete a traffic impact and site access study.
- Some of the basics of trip generation analysis for a parking facility.
- The different peak time periods for various land uses.
