Almost every professional is faced with having to write a short report at some point in his or her career. Despite the limited number of pages, short reports are as equally daunting as longer documents, especially if you do not like writing. This 3-hour online course allows you to take some of the stress out of writing short reports by using the simple and effective Pyramid Method of writing. This method enables you to write a variety of reports using the same simple strategy.
This course examines two types of reports: (1) Informative Short Reports, such as Incident, Field Trip, and Progress Reports, in which you present your information factually and do not expect your reader to reply or take specific action, and (2) Persuasive Short Reports, such as Recommendation or Inspection Reports, in which you convince your reader to take the action you suggest. (Any of the Informative Reports can become a Persuasive Report if it ends with a recommendation.)
