Leadership is not the private reserve of a few charismatic men and women, it is a process that ordinary people use when they are bringing forth the best from themselves and others. If you are a leader, or aspire to be one, this series of courses will assist you in developing your capacity to guide others to places they have never been before. The series covers the five practices of exemplary leadership - model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart.
This 2-hour interactive online course is the fourth in the series and covers the third of the five practices of exemplary leadership, "Challenge the Process". It shows you how leaders understand that change is a constant, and proactive individuals seize the moment, and use times of change to create something better than previously thought possible. This course reminds you to look at all sorts of outside resources for inspiration, since new ideas are essential to success. The notion that failure is an element of success is also discussed, and you will be encouraged to create a workplace that embraces risk and experimentation.
This course series is adopted from the highly respected book, The Leadership Challenge, written by James Kouzes and Barry Posner. This is the third edition of this book, which is grounded in extensive research and uses interviews with all kinds of leaders from both public and private organizations.
