The International Codes Council (ICC) recently published the latest 2024 version of the I-Codes, which underly the building codes used in jurisdictions across the United States. Two of these codes, the 2024 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), are critical to the design and construction of commercial wall systems to help assure the health, safety, and comfort of building occupants. Because the latest versions of these two codes contain a number of significant changes and because they will be adopted shortly by local authorities across the United States, this webinar will provide a straightforward and understandable approach to assure that building professionals can design commercial wall systems that achieve the requirements of these newest codes. The webinar will start with a brief introduction to how building codes are developed in the United States and how to determine which code requirements are relevant for the effective design and management of commercial walls. Next, the webinar will offer a detailed review of the critical provisions of the 2024 building and energy codes affecting wall systems, along with a step-by-step design checklist for the building professional to follow. Finally, the webinar will identify free online resources than can assist the building professional in the design of code-compliant commercial wall systems.
