Successful design of brick masonry requires understanding of the brick material as it is transformed from the earth to the wall.  This 1-hour online interactive course will give the architect greater control over their material quality decisions by providing insight into the raw materials, the manufacturing, and the performance and testing of clay brick units.

By learning how to specify and approve brick with the proper characteristics for their projects, architects will ensure the long-term quality of their projects.

Course Objectives
After participating in this course, you will be able to:
  • Explain the relationship between brick raw materials, brick manufacturing methods, and the behavior of brick units in completed installations.
  • Describe the performance characteristics of brick that are tested during manufacturing quality control.
  • Discuss the performance requirements of brick masonry for projects in their climate region.
