This interactive online course outlines the new wind loss mitigation retrofits required as of October 2007. The Florida Building Code now requires the strengthening of existing homes during the renovation process, so that they perform better in high wind events. This course will familiarize you with the five specific areas that are vulnerable, while focusing on gable end bracing, the most complicated yet impactful upgrade to the structural integrity of the home. The information that is highlighted in this course does not represent a complete review of the Florida Building Code Section 553.844. However, it is designed to highlight key points and methods and familiarize you with the building practices documented in the Florida Building Code.
