Precast Concrete Erection Procedures

Precast Concrete Erection Procedures

2 hrs. Online Course

Level: Intermediate

Item#: RV-6245

This 2 hour online course discusses erection considerations for precast concrete structures. These structures include long, heavy members; exposed structural frames; instability during erection and special access conditions created by tight construction sites. Precast concrete structures tend to be multi-story and contain vertical-load supporting members, such as columns and wall panels. The precast concrete members are usually manufactured in an off-site plant and transported to the job site for erection. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Identify standard sections and shapes of precast concrete members.
  • Identify types of bracing used in precast concrete erection.
  • Select the proper connection details for different precast members.
  • Differentiate between erection and permanent connections.
  • Differentiate between structural and non-structural grout.
  • Identify correct erection tolerances.
