2014 NEC Changes - Condensed Version

1 hr. Online Course

Level: Intermediate

Item#: RV-10546

SME: Neal Burdick

This is a condensed summary of the most significant changes covering the eight Chapters of the 2014 edition of the National Electrical Code®  (NEC®) created by the NFPA®.

It is highly recommended that you have a hard copy of the 2014 NEC to refer to.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize that the NEC® contains provisions that are considered necessary for safety Compliance therewith and proper maintenance results in an installation that is essentially free from hazard
  • Explain the new provision for EV charging that ensures that EV charging can be completed safely and effectively without overloading an existing branch circuit
  • Identify the reason for the new article that provides specific requirements for safe installation of low-voltage, power-limited power distribution systems
  • Summarize the Critical Care Areas revisions that are in alignment with OSHA requirements and addresses a serious safety issue with feeders and branch circuits
  • Identify the code that address a significant worker issue requiring a sign disconnect to be located at the point where the circuit conductors enter the sign enclosure or pole
  • Explain the significant improvement to the code that improves safety for rooftop PV systems
