During the summer months, people working outdoors or hot warehouses are at an increased risk for heat-related illnesses. Heat-related illnesses can be very dangerous and may present themselves in many different forms. This course will identify the symptoms and complications of these types of illnesses, and discuss methods of treatment and prevention.

Describe the different levels of heat illness, recognize the symptoms, and describe treatment and prevention methods
Identify control measures to lessen the risk of heat stress
Discuss employee and supervisor responsibilities regarding safety and health when working in hot environments
Explain how to prevent heat illness at home
Identify the dangers of sun exposure
Explain ways to prevent and control illness related to sun exposure
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT: Neil Smith CIH CSP CHMM
Neil is a consummate safety professional with 26 years of experience in the HSE field. Neil has served as a site, divisional and corporate Health, Safety and Environmental Professional in the chemical, heavy manufacturing, food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, facility maintenance and warehousing industries. Neil holds credentials as a Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional and Certified Hazardous Material Manager.
Neil presently serves as regional HSE director with primary duties that include CBRE Asset Service Locations as well as the Texas Baylor CBRE Facility Maintenance Health and Safety platform.
