Site Engineering for Landscape Architects: Design and Layout
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Discuss the opportunities for site engineering to play a role in the aesthetic, perceptual, spatial, and environmental considerations of a design.
- Identify the four categories of aesthetics: geomorphic, architectonic, sculptural, and naturalistic.
- Explain the uses for the four types of perception: slope, elevation change, convex and concave slopes, and enhancement.
- Describe the methods and practices associated with developing the layout plan, including site layout and dimensioning.

Landscape Architecture at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
KURT NATHAN, MS, PE, is Professor Emeritus at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and was formerly a consulting engineer for Conservation Engineering.
