Lesson 1: 2014 NEC Changes - Chapter 4: Equipment for General Use

This course provides coverage of significant changes in the 2014 National Electrical Code®. With every new edition of the NEC, some of the changes include new requirements to sections, while some of the changes include entirely new articles. Some changes are revisions to existing requirements while others are deletions to some existing requirements. Chapter 4 deals with equipment for general use.

Lesson 2: Texas State Laws & Rules for Electricians

In today's business world, it is easy to become so wrapped up in your everyday work that you forget some of the basic rules and regulations that govern your profession. This interactive online course discusses Title 8, Occupations Code, Chapter 1305 of the Texas Statutes, and 16 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 73 of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. These two codes contain important information regarding the regulation, licensing, and conduct standards for Texas Electricians. By reviewing this information on a regular basis, you will stay abreast of changes and amendments to the Texas State Laws and Rules as they pertain to this profession.


Lesson 3: 2015 NFPA 70E - Significant Changes

The 2015 edition of NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace® has recently been issued, and there are
significant changes to the standard. This course is designed to inform you about important changes made from the 2012 edition so you will have knowledge of the most up-to-date information.



Course Objectives

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

 

  • Describe the NEC® code for safety requirements on flexible cords andcable tags

  • Identify the NEC® code for safe installation of switch controlledlighting loads

  • Identify the change to the placement of GFCI devices for appliances

  • Explain the new safety requirements for the installation of ductheaters with limited access

  • Identify the various professions and sub-professions regulated by the Texas laws and rules for electricians, and the responsibilities and limitations of each license.

  • Describe licensing requirements and enforcement

  • Discuss regulations of electricians by local governments

  • Explain actions that may lead to license denial and disciplinary actions

  • Discuss significant changes made to the 2015 edition of NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
