This one hour interactive online course discusses the basics of regulator application on an electric distribution system. The methods for regulating voltage and the types of regulators used on electric systems are discussed. Features of voltage regulators and how to use the controls on a voltage regulator are explored. Methods to improve the voltage profile on an electric distribution system are investigated including the use of line drop compensation as a power quality tool.

This course includes a multiple choice quiz at the end.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • State the acceptable voltage levels on an electric distribution system.
  • Describe the two types of feeder voltage regulators.
  • Explain the methods for regulating voltage and improving voltage profile.
  • Illustrate the use of the controls of voltage regulators.
