Wired networks have been with us in our enterprise networks for a very long time, and we need to understand the basic components that make up a wired network and some of the device standards that we use in these types of networks. It’s also important to understand how network components are secured. This course focuses on network types and communication protocols. In this, we discuss different types of networks as well as multilayer protocols and converged protocols.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• be familiar with network types and communication protocols, which are found in CISSP objective 4.1
• understand wired, wireless, and wide-area networks as well as software-defined networks
• be familiar with OSI and TCP/IP Models along with multilayer and converged protocols
• grasp of the concepts of cryptography in communications and how to secure in-transit communications on them
