This course is one of an eight course series on Green Infrastructure that provides a template for design and implementation of Green Building concepts as they apply to cities and municipalities.

This 3-hourinteractive online course gives you the information and action items to assess sites and identify opportunities to use Best Management Practices (BMPs) in “Green” planning, design and construction. You'll get:
  • Pavement lifecycle
  • Pervious vs. impervious pavement
  • Albedo or Reflectivity of pavement
  • Pavement materials
  • A materials program
  • Material applications

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe Green Building Best Practices as they apply to Pavement
  • Develop a program of strategies to maximize pavement lifecycle citywide
  • Develop a citywide pavement management system to ensure that the entire roadway system is performing as well as possible at all times
  • Arrange a pavement management system with other citywide infrastructure planning processes
  • Explain reduced impervious pavement area
  • Describe the benefits of maximized pavement reflectivity
  • Discuss the advantages of pervious pavements
  • Identify recycled and reclaimed materials in infrastructure construction
  • Explain reducing the use of virgin asphalt concrete material and redirect waste material from landfills by using recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) or other recycled materials in asphalt concrete
  • Use the course material to develop your own checklists to improve existing policies and procedure

Andrew Manzini is Vice President, National Green Building, Inc. He is also a Florida Certified General Contractor, NAHB Certified Green Professional, and NAHB National Green Building Standard Verifier. Andy’s previous experience includes executive positions at Architect/Engineering firms in the fossil and nuclear power industry. He is also a management consultant, instructional designer and published author of three management books and dozens of articles. His education includes a BA and MA from Boston University and post-graduate work at Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Management. He is skilled in improving productivity, achieving significant operational improvement through effective teamwork, planning and management.
