This 4-hour interactive online course is a review of Article 250 of the 2008 National Electrical Code® which describes proper grounding and electrical bonding procedures. The course paraphrases the various sections of Article 250 and offers some additional explanatory comments and diagrams.
 
This course is intended to interpret and help explain the critically important concepts of grounding and bonding as defined in the Code.  However, the NEC should be considered the final authority on code issues.If there is a difference between this course and the Code, the code must be followed as written.
Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:
  • Discuss the grounding requirements of the National Electric Code®
  • Explain how to install a safe and effective grounding electrode system
  • Discuss the bonding requirement of the National Electric Code®
  • Understand the equipment grounding and equipment grounding conductors.

Mr. Layton holds a BS in electrical engineering from Auburn University and an MBA. He is a licensed professional engineer in Georgia and North Carolina. He has over 35 years experience in the electric utility industry. His area of expertise includes distribution design, planning, metering, system operations, and relaying.
Mr. Layton has taught numerous training courses for other utility professionals in the areas of metering, relaying, equipment application, and distribution line design and authored over 100 papers on utility operations.
