A Gap Analysis is a comparison of what you have to your desired future state. It utilizes a combination of baseline National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) guidelines, modifications that reflect local utilization, and perceived demands from users. A Needs Assessment helps inform a community in terms of planning, decision-making, and resource allocation for parks and recreation. Unfortunately, not many understand how to use a Gap Analysis and Needs Assessment in a sustainable, holistic way. This presentations focuses of addressing this issue.
