Pipes are essential elements of all modern industry and manufacturing processes. This means that a knowledge of basic pipefitting skills is important for maintenance personnel. This course will focus on such skills as understanding piping blueprints, measuring and cutting pipe, and fitting it up in the correct manner.
Course Objectives
Recognize the difference between plan, elevation and isometric drawings List what is in a bill of materials Identify common blueprint pipe fitting symbols Describe common methods of cutting pipe and the fitting allowances that must be considered Recall the tools and techniques used to create level and square piping
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT: Jay Scheldorf
Jay is a Chemical Engineer with a PhD from the University of Idaho. After graduating school, he worked for UOP, commissioning and troubleshooting oil refinery processes around the world. He was a founding partner at Pacific Simulation. Pacific Simulation provided simulation software, services and simulation-based training to the pulp and paper industry. Jay also spent time as a control engineer at Ahlstrom, working primarily on Kamyr digesters. At Convergence Training he developed and supervised the production of hundreds of pulp and paper related animated computer-based training modules, as well as variety of general technical and safety related modules.
