An understanding of wetlands is increasingly important for design professionals, including architects, engineers, land surveyors and landscape architects. This 1-hour online course will acquaint you with the changed perception of wetlands in North America, contemporary definitions of wetlands and types of wetlands found on this continent. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end.

Upon completion of this course, you will understand and be familiar with:

  • Be able to understand key federal legislation and publications that has led to increasing protection of wetlands for subsequent value to humans, plants and animals.
  • The broad characteristics of wetlands and their values to human society
  • Understanding of how wetlands are valued for flood mitigation, public drinking supply and ability to prevent pollution.
  • Be able define the history and what are wetlands.

Garner Company Inc., he frequently conducts technical seminars, does peer reviews for cities and towns, and works as an expert witness in Massachusetts courts. He also provides numerous active on-line continuing education courses through RedVector, many of which focus on legal, business and technical issues in land surveying.
