1 hr. Webinar

Level: Intermediate

Building insulation doesn’t get much respect. Out of sight and out of mind describes the approach of many commercial building owners and facility managers. Unless obvious problems are observed, all is assumed good. But building insulation that is inadequately designed, installed, and maintained will have a critical adverse effect affects building performance and operation and the comfort, health, and safety of its occupants.

This webinar will provide the background and tools to help building professionals select the best building insulation systems for any situation – starting with preliminary design and field installation and through to ongoing roof asset management.  The webinar will cover insulation materials and practices for building roofs and walls, as well as insulated glass and glazing.

Note: This is a live webinar delivered via GoToWebinar. Session instructions will be emailed to you 24-48 hours prior to the webinar and the morning of the webinar. If you have not received your instructions for any reason, please call Customer Support (1-866-546-1212) the day of the event. Webinars are live and interactive. Students will have the ability to interact with and ask questions of the presenter directly.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • Analyze the components of building insulation systems for roofs, walls, and glazing, and describe how each impacts thermal efficiency, resilience, and occupant health.
  • Identify the three ways heat moves through building insulation, and employ practical strategies to manage this heat transfer to improve occupant comfort, health, and safety.
  • Employ best practice design strategies to optimize the energy efficiency of building insulation systems.
  • Implement strategies to minimize long-term damage to building insulation systems during and after construction, while promoting sustainability and community welfare.
