Although we cannot yet prove scientifically that exposure to mold causes specific illnesses in people, we have a large body of evidence that supports this cause and effect relationship. For this reason, many U.S. and Canadian health and safety agencies have developed recommended procedures for handling indoor mold problems. This 4-hour interactive online course is a collection of these recommendations, including methods for assessing the magnitude of a mold problem, controlling the growth of mold, and planning and executing a mold cleanup project.

The goal of this course is to help participants understand:

  • How to conduct an environmental assessment for mold
  • How to control and prevent mold
  • How to plan, execute, and manage a mold remediation project
Course Objectives

After completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify an indoor mold problem and determine its severity
  • Determine if, and what type of mold sampling is needed
  • Communicate with building occupants about a mold problem
  • Identify building and HVAC design, construction, and operation and maintenance practices that can help control or prevent mold
  • Develop a mold remediation plan
  • Identify the safety issues associated with mold remediation
  • Identify mold cleanup methods
  • Determine when a mold remediation project is complete

There will be a multiple-choice test at the end of this course.
