All surveyors and mappers are required to hold the public health, safety and welfare paramount; In the course of your profession however, you may be faced with dilemmas that call in to question your moral values, conduct and character. This one hour online course will help you decide what actions to take if faced with such dilemmas.

Standards of ethical conduct are examined in a variety of situations. The surveyor will focus on ethical issues in contemporary professional practice by looking at a sample of real ethical issues that professionals face.

Using the National Society of Professional Surveyors 'Surveyors Creed and Canons' and a sample 'Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct' as a guide (and applying the ethical decision making model), the surveyor will examine some of the everyday complex issues of professional practice, such as whistle-blowing, confidentiality and gifts.

This course includes a multiple choice quiz at the end.

Course Objectives
The course will help you decide what actions to take:
  • if faced with a conflict of interest
  • if requested to seal plans you did not prepare
  • or, what to do if you observe unethical behavior in your workplace
