Liquid process piping systems are used in many different industries to convey liquids to, from and between pumping, storage and treatment units.  Proper design and construction of liquid process piping is necessary to ensure the integrity of a piping system during its service lifetime.  This 1-hour interactive online course is an introduction to the design strategy of liquid process piping including piping design analysis, specifications, drawings, bases of design, loading conditions, and piping layout.  Familiarity with the standards and recommendations for design of pressure piping will
prepare the designer to make informed decisions throughout the design process.
Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the various aspects of liquid process piping design strategy such as specifications, drawings, bases of design and piping layout
  • Discuss the specific factors that may lead to process piping damage such as soil and environmental conditions, operational and natural phenomena, and corrosion
  • Explain the difference between sustained loads and occasional loads and how they effect process piping systems
  • Describe the aspects of piping layout design

David Chitester Photo
David Chitester is a licensed P.E. in Michigan and Florida has over 35 years of experience. He graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1974. He also has an M.B.A that he received from Northern Michigan University in 1978. 
 
David Chitester began his career with Bechtel Power and Blount Brothers where he gained field construction experience on projects ranging from $150 million to $500 million. For more than 30 years, he has provided services essential to a balanced mix of public and private sector clients. Mr. Chitester's expertise has been applied to multi-million dollar hotels and resorts, industrial process plants, power generating facilities, office and commercial buildings. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and his background includes a number of years on active construction sites.

David Chitester is a professional trainer and founder of RedVector.com Inc. and Chitester Management Systems. He has authored numerous online courses and taught live classes on ethics, laws and rules, building codes and the ADA.
