This course will provide essential information regarding the latest Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. BIM is the one of the most promising developments in the architecture, engineering and construction industries. This technology allows development and construction of an accurate virtual model of a building and provides critical support for construction and procurement activities. As a result of attending this course, you will gain valuable knowledge and training for producing integrated designs, better quality buildings, lower costs of construction, and reduced project durations.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • Explain the benefits of BIM and how it improves business processes
  • Describe the application areas of BIM- project design, cost analysis, and coordination
  • List the key types of information generated by Building Information Models
  • Explain the BIM tools and features for cost estimating, code checks, and operation
  • Describe current and future trends in BIM technology for commercial buildings

I appreciate the mention of Archicad
By on Feb, 05, 2019
I appreciate the mention of Archicad. As an Archicad user, I get weary of folks acting like Revit is the only option. Content was appropriate. I think it would be easier to watch if the instructor would allow more of himself to come through, rather than reading the context verbatim. Thanks!

a very valid topic with pertinent information addressed. However, given the pace at which BIM practices and tools are progressing, some of the content is a bit dated.

By (Engineer) on Feb, 11, 2019
There was an audio issue in the beginning of the seminar. Not good enough terminology, should have included families. I would have liked to see actual videos of a BIM model and a representation of clash detection. Could have provided some real-life examples of BIM software to use.

This was one of the most boring classes I've taken in RedVector
By on Mar, 06, 2019
This was one of the most boring classes I've taken in RedVector. At no point, was there any introduction to BIM walkthroughs. This was about as effective as listening to someone read instructions on how to peel an orange, or watch someone's face for an hour as they tell you about the new tax laws while getting a root canal. BIM is actually very interesting in real life, but this lesson may introduce people to reevaluating their career choices.
