Due to their effective thermal isolation, long retention and rollover beds, rotary kiln incineration systems are an ideal solution for institutional waste destruction needs. While silicates and glass may cause system-clogging slag for other incinerators, rotary kilns can handle these wastes to an effective industry standard.

Hospital’s research centers, municipal land fills and industrial manufacturing sites now widely use rotary kiln furnaces for the incineration of industrial and other waste streams. These may include such diverse compounds such as solids, sludges, liquids and gaseous wastes. This three-hour, interactive online course will present the basic features of the rotary kiln incinerator and examples of its application for waste disposal.
Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, the student will:

  • Recall the rotary kiln incineration system, its characteristics, application, advantages and disadvantages

  • Recognize the types of rotary kiln incineration systems designs and the appropriate application for each of them

  • Identify material-specific handling protocols, such as setting effective temperatures, ensuring incineration, and dealing with residuals

  • Explain how to size a rotary kiln incineration system
