Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- List the different requirements for developing a Risk Management Plan following the EPA's 112(r) Risk Management Program rule (40 CFR Part 68)
- Discuss how to conduct a hazard assessment
- Describe how to perform an offsite consequence analysis
- List the different types of dispersion models and discuss how they are used for various situations
- Develop an Emergency Response Program
- Develop a Risk Communication Strategy
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT: Shilui Mahmud, PhD
Dr. Shiuli Mahmud is an environmental and resource engineer and a Black belt Six Sigma Specialist. She holds a BSc and a MSc degree in Forestry from the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences of Chittagong University in Bangladesh and PhD degree in Environmental and Resource Engineer (Major: Paper and Bioprocess Engineering) from SUNY ESF College at Syracuse, NY. She has over twelve years of research experiences and has published several papers in various scientific journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Mahmud worked as a Research Assistant for many years at SUNY ESF College, then as a Research Associate at Syracuse University for near about a year and has done part-time teaching on Risk Management for a graduate level course titled “Infrastructure Asset Management” in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of Syracuse University for a semester. She has strong project management background and has recently managed several Transportation research projects on Accelerated Construction techniques as a Research Associate. She is very familiar with the sustainability practices applied in different industries. As a trained Black belt and Green Belt Six Sigma specialist and a Project Manager, she has successfully implemented six-sigma tools in several projects for different industries and currently managing several projects for different Non-Profit Organizations (NGOs).
