This course is designed to familiarize participants with the basic
design and operation of powered industrial trucks (PITs), commonly known
as forklifts. Participants will explore various types of forklifts used
in manufacturing and warehouse settings, learn about major features and
working dimensions, and understand fundamental operational principles.
The course covers essential topics, including forklift inspections,
maintenance procedures such as recharging and refueling, stability
principles, load handling techniques, and critical safety
considerations, including hazards posed by obstructions, pedestrian
traffic, ramps and grades, loading docks, enclosed areas, and slippery
conditions.
