Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
• Understand the nature of easements and how they relate to land ownership.
• Be familiar with Rights-of-way, being that they are the most frequently encountered and troublesome.
• Understand how to divide the easement rights among the owners entitled to the reversion when the need arises.
• Be familiar with the different categories of roads and highways in the U.S. and characteristics of each.
• Understand the ways a public way can be created over a parcel of land
• Be familiar with highway abandonment
• Describe the impact of reversion of easements on boundary lines.
Explain reversion rights as applied to highways.
Illustrate the various methods of creating prolonged boundary lines for different highway configurations and locations.
