Part of your job may involve entering and working in confined spaces. If you must work in a confined space, your life may depend on being properly informed about the hazards in the space and being properly prepared to protect yourself from those hazards. This course will help to reinforce your understanding of the hazards associated with confined spaces and what you can do to protect yourself from them.
Topic I: Confined Space Characteristics
• Describe the characteristics of a confined space.

• Explain how a permit-required confined space differs from a confined space that does not require a permit.
Topic II: Confined Space Hazards
• Describe the main types of hazards found in permit-required confined spaces.
Topic III: OSHA Confined Space Standard
• Describe the general requirements of the OSHA permit-required confined space standard.
• Describe the general requirements for a written permit space program.
Topic IV: Protective Measures in Confined Spaces
• Describe the general requirements of a typical entry permit.
• Describe some general protective measures used to protect workers in confined spaces.
Topic V: The Confined Space Attendant
• Describe general responsibilities of the confined space attendant.
