This program is a general overview of mold, from what it is and understanding how it grows to how to document and prepare reports related to mold. This program has 5 lessons with a test at the end of each lesson which must be passed with a score of 70% or better to move on to the next lesson. The 5 lessons are:

Lesson 2: Mold Contractors' Standard of Care

Lesson 3: Understanding Moisture Intrusion and Its Impact on Mold Growth

Lesson 4: Mold Documentation and Report Preparation

Lesson 5: Toxic Mold: Managing the Legal & Insurance Risks 

Course Objectives

 By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the most important factor influencing mold growth indoors.
  • Explain why and when mold sampling would be necessary.
  • Describe and choose appropriate engineering controls to isolate hazardous work areas.
  • Explain post-remediation verification techniques.
  • Recognize the signs that moisture intrusion is having a detrimental effect to on your building materials.
  • Describe why bacteria and mold growth concentrate in certain areas of the building envelope.
  • Describe and choose from the numerous options available for air and surface field sampling.
  • Describe the advantages and disadvantages of viable and non-viable air sampling.
  • Employ risk management approaches to avoid mold liability.
  • Describe how to insure and defend yourself against mold claims.
